Frequently Asked Questions

ShipRocked strongly recommends that ALL of our guests travel with a passport.

Having a valid passport will help to expedite your debarkation experience as delays may occur upon return to the United States for those without one. Additionally, this will enable guests to fly from the U.S. to meet their ship at a foreign port should they miss their scheduled port of embarkation and allow guests who must disembark the ship before their cruise ends due to an emergency to fly back to the U.S. without significant delays and complications.

An automatic 15% gratuity will be added to the cover charge of the Chef’s Table and the charges will be applied directly to the guest’s Sail & Sign account.

All ship staff are encouraged to “go the extra mile,” and so they are permitted to accept cash gratuities entirely at the discretion of our guests who wish to acknowledge particular staff members for exceptional or outstanding service. In other words, there is genuinely no need to tip but you should feel free to do so if you have a desire to acknowledge particular individuals.

Single guests will receive a discount of $199 off of the second cruise fare. In all cases, single guests will only be charged one add-on fee of $275 for taxes and fees.

Cabinmates

If you know who will be traveling with you prior to making your reservation, please have each person register for an ASK4 Reservations account before you reserve your stateroom. You will then be able to easily add them to the stateroom at the time you make your reservation online. If you don’t know who your cabinmate(s) will be prior to making a reservation, no problem, you can add them at a later time.

Solo Travelers

If you are a solo traveler and would like to find other solo-travelers to share a cabin there are a couple of options available to you:

Cabinmate Search Facebook Group

Check out our Cabinmate Search Facebook Group. This group will give you the opportunity to meet other attendees who are also looking for a cabin-mate, and hopefully you can find your perfect match!

Cabinmate Matching Program

The Cabinmate Matching Program allows solo guests to reserve a double, triple or quad occupancy cabin for only one cabin fare (plus one set of taxes and fees).

Once you’ve enrolled in the program by making your reservation, ASK4 will go to work locating and matching you with a guest(s) of the same age group and gender. Within 30 days of sailing, ASK4 will provide you and your cabinmate(s) with your stateroom number and cabin-mate(s) name(s).

If you locate your own cabinmate(s), simply notify us and we’ll remove your name from the Program.

If you have any additional special requests, please email reservations@ask4ent.com.

Please Note: ASK4 cannot guaranty special requests, but we will do our best to accommodate them, if possible. Your decision to accept a cabinmate match is at your own risk. We recommend you plan to arrive a day (or more!) before the cruise, so you can experience all that Galveston has to offer!

You can check out our Hotel page which has a few special offers for the night before the cruise.

Late-January temperatures in Galveston, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Yucatan Peninsula range from an average low of 65-70 degrees to an average high of 80-85 degrees. We suggest you pack lightweight, “resort casual” clothing — a few swimsuits, flip-flops, sandals or deck shoes for around the pool area, sneakers, walking shoes or hiking boots for shore trips, etc. If you like to exercise or participate in sports, bring any fitness clothing and footwear you may need. T-shirts, shorts, and/or bare feet are not permitted in the main dining rooms.

Some of the shows and activities will be taking place outdoors, and there is always the chance of it being windy, cool or even a little wet. So we suggest also packing some warmer clothing and light rain gear just to be on the safe side (we’ll also have some hoodies and long-sleeve shirts available for you in the Gift Shop!). Be sure to bring your cameras, batteries, chargers, and enough film or memory cards to capture the entire event. And don’t forget ear plugs for the young ones (or yourself), sunscreen and lip balm.

We STRONGLY recommend that you hand-carry all your travel documents (passports, birth certificates, airline tickets, etc.) medications, jewelry and any other personal items that you may need in a separate carry-on bag. You should not put these items into checked luggage as they could become lost and prevent you from boarding the ship. Also, your luggage may take a few hours before it is delivered to your cabin.

On the last evening of your cruise your luggage will be collected for disembarkation the following morning. So you may want to pack a separate overnight bag to accommodate your last evenings’ clothes and sundries to carry off the ship with you.

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, ShipRocked and Carnival Cruise Lines prohibits certain items onboard, such as weapons, candles, irons, alcohol, or other dangerous goods. According Carnival Cruise Lines’ policy, it conducts security scanning of all luggage and if prohibited items are found, they will be removed and disposed of and no compensation will be given.

Before you pack, please take the time to review the following:

Important – We suggest that all luggage be unlocked before turning it over to the porters in order to avoid any inconvenience to you or delay in delivering the luggage to your stateroom.

For additional information, please refer to our Terms & Conditions. and Carnival’s Cruise Ticket Contract.

All of our artists plan to join you for the full cruise. However, there may be some cases where a performer needs to depart early or join us sometime during the cruise due to a scheduling conflict or other personal commitment.

The homepage for the Valor on Carnival’s website can be found HERE.

For your convenience, all shipboard expenses are charged to Carnival’s onboard credit program, Sail & Sign. This allows you to charge all purchases and gratuities directly to your personal onboard account for convenience throughout the cruise. Your Sail & Sign Card must be utilized for all money transactions* on board, as cash will not be an accepted form of payment.

On the first day of the cruise, you will establish your method of payment with a credit card (Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover®, Diners Club®), travelers checks or cash. If you choose to settle your account with cash, a deposit of $100 will be required in advance. Carnival does not recommend the use of a debit card as payment for your onboard folio. However, if you choose to pay with a debit card, please be advised that Carnival obtains pre-authorization of $100 which some banks may hold for up to 30 days.

Guest Services can provide you with a balance update at any time throughout the cruise. In addition, you can view their balance update at a Sail & Sign Kiosk or on your stateroom interactive television.  On the final morning of the cruise, a statement detailing all purchases made with the Sail & Sign card will be delivered to your stateroom.

For additional information about Carnvial’s Sail & Sign program, click here.

* Excluding artist and event merchandise, which mush be purchased using your personal credit card or cash. You will not be able to purchase merchandise using your onboard spending account.

There is not a specific dress code onboard ShipRrocked, and there is no “formal night,” so formal attire is not required.  However, shirts, bathing suit cover ups and footwear (including flip-flops) must be worn at all times in the Lido Restaurant (buffet). We also request that guests refrain from wearing flip-flops or bathing suit attire in the main dining rooms.  Nudity is not allowed in public spaces throughout the ship.

There are multiple complimentary dining options, from three-course dining in the main dining room, to endless buffets with action stations, room service, and there is even 24/7 pizza!  During ShipRocked, the ship will offer open-seating dining in the main dining restaurant, with individual menus. Additional details and dining hours will be available once onboard.

Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel’s gift shops or at a port of call will be retained by CCL until the end of the voyage.

SR and CCL encourage the responsible use of alcohol and accordingly reserves the right to permanently or temporarily revoke the drinking privileges of any guest who violates CCL’s Guest Conduct Policy or who is deemed a danger to himself, herself or others by SR management and/or CCL vessel management. Continued abuse of alcohol while sailing and/or violation of SR and CCL’s alcohol policy may result in immediate disembarkation. In such cases SR and CCL shall not be liable for damages, refund or other compensation, including travel costs.

If you have any food allergy or a dietary requirement that requires Kosher meals or gluten-free food product, please advise a ShipRocked Reservations Agent at the time of booking. Obtaining the product for many of these requests requires 30-days notice prior to sailing, and we want to ensure that we are able to fulfill your request. We cannot guarantee Kosher Meal requests made within 30 days of sail date.

For the protection of all of our guests, it is not permissible to bring aboard any food items that would require preparation by the ship’s staff, or food items that would require cold storage in our kitchen facilities.

To help you stay connected while at sea, the ship provides satellite Internet access facilitated through the Internet Café and through the bow-to-stern ship-wide Wi-Fi network.

Carnival offers three different types of plans that can be purchased for either a 24 hour period or for the entire length of the cruise at a discount – price for voyage plans vary by length of cruise:

  • Social ($5 USD per day) – Access the most popular websites and applications. Includes: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Does not include access to other websites or apps.
  • Value ($16 USD per day) – Surf all your favorite sites, including e-mail, news, sports, weather, banking and finance. Note: Does not support Skype calling or music streaming (such as Spotify).

To access Wi-Fi on board, simply turn on your device’s Wi-Fi feature and you will receive the information needed. You can do this anywhere onboard the ship. Please note that as services are carried via satellite, so there are a few limitations compared to your home network.

Carnival offers guests the opportunity to pre-purchase Internet plans at a discounted rate online via the ‘Manage My Booking’ tab on carnival.com or send as a gift to family and friends through The Fun Shops. When pre-purchasing online, guests must purchase a plan that covers the entire duration of their cruise. Plans may be pre-purchased online up to 24 hours prior to embarkation day. Daily plans are available for purchase on board.

Mobile Phones
Carnival offers an advanced roaming network on board Carnival Cruise Lines ships, allowing you to make and receive calls while at sea using your own mobile phone and telephone number. However, international roaming charges will be billed to you by your home mobile carrier. Please contact your mobile carrier for specific rate information.

Ship To Shore
The ship’s telecommunications network offers direct dialing via satellite from the stateroom telephone. This is available 24 hours a day regardless of the ship’s location. This service is closed on the final day of the cruise at 4:00am. The rate is $1.99 per minute, and charges are billed to the guest’s on board Sail and Sign Card. Since all communication is via satellite, the charges apply to all calls including calling cards, credit cards, 800 toll-free numbers and collect calls.

The current onboard the ship is 110 volts AC (US Power), so a power converter is not necessary

Staterooms have a limited number of outlets available. Electrical devices such as power strips, multi plug box outlets/adaptors, and extension cords (without surge protectors) are allowed on board when used with proper caution. Personal grooming devices such as hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons, and shavers, are allowed on board when used with proper caution. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard, they will be removed and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark.

Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas around the ship. Please inquire as to where those areas are once on board. All other public areas throughout the vessel are smoke-free. SMOKING NOT ALLOWED IN CABINS OR ON BALCONIES. Any guests who smoke in their staterooms or on their balconies will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this policy and fee is included in CCL’s Ticket Contract, section 8. Guest agrees to strictly comply with Carnival’s non-smoking policy.

The ship has self-service launderettes located on the stateroom decks. There are generally 2 or 3 coin operated washers and dryers, and 1 iron and ironing board in each launderette. The cost is $3.25 per washer load and $3.25 per dryer load. Vending machines dispense small boxes of detergent and water softener at $1.50 per box. Change can be obtained at the Guest Service Desk. Due to local environmental requirements, the washing machines in the guest launderette will be closed in port, per each port specific requirements; the dryers and irons will be available for guest use.

In addition to self-service launderettes, there is a valet laundry service on board and is handled through your Stateroom Steward. A more detailed description (including costs) of this service can be found on Carnival’s website by clicking here.

A 1250-watt hair dryer is provided in all staterooms and suites (either in the bathroom or on the desk/vanity). Personal grooming devices such as hair dryers and curling irons are allowed on board when used with proper caution. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard, they will be removed and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark.

Camp Carnival offers kids the chance to enjoy all the best parts of summer camp and family vacation, while you’re getting ShipRocked! Camp Carnival splits children into three different age groups: 2 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 11 years, with counselors available to make sure everyone has an amazing time. Tons of fun-filled, age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, dancing, movies, toy-time and video games. When it’s mealtime, kids get their own menus, with faves like mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, and more. And when the sun goes down, they offer their Night Owls program (fees apply) so kids get to stay up late having fun, while you get to enjoy our concerts and late night activities!

Please Note:  Carnival does not offer any in-stateroom babysitting services. Also, adjustments may be made to children’s program groupings, hours and locations as needed subject to the number of children participating, and to our scheduled concerts and activities. Additionally,

The ship has a well-equipped Medical Center, supervised by a doctor and medical personnel. Please note, however, that they are equipped to provide only basic medical care; Carnival cannot offer care for conditions requiring specialized expertise or equipment.

Per our Terms & Conditions, you acknowledge that all or part of the Cruise may be in areas where medical care and/or evacuation may not be available. You agree to indemnify and reimburse ShipRocked and Carnival in the event that either party, in its sole discretion, to advance to you the cost of emergency medical care, including medical evacuation and/or medical care provided ashore, as well as transportation and/or lodging in connection therewith. ShipRocked and Carnival shall have no responsibility to advance any such costs.

Yes. A Variety of ShipRocked event merchandise, as well as merchandise from our performers will be available onboard in multiple locations.

Merchandise may be purchased using your personal credit card or cash ONLY.

You will not be able to purchase merchandise using your onboard spending account.

Guests are permitted to take personal photos using fixed-lens cameras everywhere onboard the cruise. However, please refrain from flash photography in all indoor concert venues. The use of detachable lens cameras (DSLR, other professional cameras, etc.), tablets (iPads, etc.), camera and video sticks, and any video or audio recording devices, will not be permitted during shows. Remote controlled photo/video drones are strictly prohibited.

We request all guests be respectful of our performers’ personal space and time between shows, and refrain from photo/autograph requests. They, like you, have been invited onboard to relax and enjoy themselves with their friends and family, during their vacation time on the cruise. We will have several photo meet and greets with the artists scheduled for the opportunity to have your photo taken with them. We, and they, appreciate your cooperation!

Most of our artists are scheduled to perform two shows each during the cruise.

Guests will have the opportunity to see all of our artists perform at least once, and in many cases will be able to see artists perform twice. Similar to a festival, performances will take place on multiple stages throuought the ship at varying times, with some performances taking place in venues where capacity is limited. Reserved seating/areas will be available for VIP Guests, otherwise all shows are general admission.

Concerts will take place throughout the ship on multiple stages from the time you get on until you get off! We’ll post the complete jam-packed schedule a few weeks prior to the cruise… so stay tuned!

There will be multiple photo-only meet and greets scheduled throughout the cruise, with most of our performers participating. ShipRocked’s photographers will be taking all of the meet and greet photos for you, and the photos will be posted on our Facebook and Flickr pages following the cruise. Lines for each meet and greet session will start to form 30-minutes prior to each session. Please note that due to the number of ShipRocked performers and guests, lines may need to be cut, subject to the limited time available. Additionally, artists will not be able to sign autographs during the meet and greet sessions.

Carnival ships have specially-designed staterooms for guests using wheelchairs or those who have mobility limitations and could benefit from the features of an accessible stateroom. If an accessible stateroom is booked by a guest who does not need the accessibility features in the stateroom, they may at any time be moved to a non-accessible stateroom in order to accommodate a guest with a disability.

When you make your reservations, please be sure to discuss your needs with ASK4 Reservations at 888-402-ASK4 (2754), or email shiprocked@ask4ent.com.  You may also visit Carnival’s website for complete ship Accessibility Information by clicking here, or calling their Guest Access team at 800-438-6744 ext.70025 or email access@carnival.com.

The cruise terminal has a limited supply of wheelchairs used to transport guests onto and off the ship, so Carnival is unable to loan you their wheelchairs for the duration of the cruise.  If you need wheelchair assistance for boarding the ship, please contact an ASK4 or Carnival representative once you arrive at the cruise terminal.  Assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For assistance with debarkation, instructions on where to meet can be found in the Fun Times on board newsletter distributed on the last evening of your cruise.

If you require the regular use of a wheelchair during the cruise, you will need to bring your own or rent one from a service provider. For your convenience, we have listed two wheelchair rental companies below:

Of course, you are free to select your own provider. Carnival does not endorse specific service providers. Consequently, you assume the risk of utilizing these third party services and are subject to their terms and conditions. Any issues that may arise regarding your rental, including refunds, must be handled directly with your chosen service provider.

For additional information with regards to mobility devices, click here.

Carnival makes available, to guests who require them, a visual-tactile, cabin alert system that notifies room occupants of a door knock, telephone call, alarm clock, or smoke-detection event. A TTY (teletypewriter) is also available to communicate with Guest Services, 24 hours a day.

For additional information about what is made available to guests who are deaf or hard of hearing, click here.

Braille signage, indicating cabin numbers and public room names, is available on board Carnival ships. Large print format is available for  dining room menus, and shore excursion information. The ship also provides an audible format of it’s “Carnival Fun Times” daily information newsletter.  Additional requests for large print information or alternate formats may be made at the Guest Services desk, once on board.

Dining rooms menus can be provided in an electronic PDF file readable via screen reading software. Our dining team will also be happy to review the menu with you in detail. Specific computers in the internet café are equipped with screen reader software.

If you need general information about accessibility before you cruise, please call Carnival’s Guest Access team at 1-800-438-6744 ext. 70025 or email access@carnival.com. Carnival’s designated ADA Responsibility Officer is Vicky Rey, Vice President Guest Care and Port Services.

Children with disabilities are welcome in it’s youth programs. Youth program rules, including those related to hours, illness, the administration of medication, and unacceptable behavior while in the program, apply to all children. Children who are less than one year older than a given Carnival youth program age group may move down into the younger age group. Further exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Guests 18 years or older, with or without disabilities, are not allowed to participate at all in the program, as they are legally adults.

In order to participate in any Carnival youth program activities, the parent or guardian will need to complete a registration form. You will also be given a special-needs checklist, which will help the youth staff in determining how to best serve your child while participating in the activities.

Although Carnival does not provide one-on-one attention, the parent, guardian, or assigned care giver is welcome to stay and participate with the child during activity times, if necessary. A beeper or phone will be provided to the adult responsible for the child, if needed.

The youth staff may not administer any medication and/or needles (with the exception of epi-pens) to any child participating in the Carnival youth program. Additionally, no medications (with the exception of epi-pens), diabetic testing equipment, nebulizers, and inhalers are permitted in the facilities.

Should a child still be in diapers and is older/bigger than what the diaper changing table can accommodate, the adult responsible for the child will be called to assist. Youth staff cannot lift children with mobility limitations.

Supervised lunch with youth staff is scheduled for children ages 2-11 years old, during port days only.  Supervised dinner with youth staff is scheduled nightly (except embarkation night) for children ages 2-11 years old. Since the youth staff is not able to provide one-on-one assistance, children will need to be able to feed themselves. In the event a child needs to be fed, the adult responsible for the child may remain with him/her during dinner, or dine with the child elsewhere and them bring them back to youth activities.

Special diets cannot be accommodated for meals served in Carnival youth programs. Kids’ menus are subject to change based on availability.

If you need general information about accessibility before you cruise, or have an ADA complaint, please call Carnival’s Guest Access team at 1-800-438-6744 ext.70025 or email access@carnival.com. Carnival’s designated ADA Responsibility Officer is Vicky Rey, Vice President Guest Care and Port Services.

In the event a guest requires medical attention while on board, Carnival ships have medical facilities and staff to assist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  In case of a serious medical emergency, where more comprehensive facilities are required, guests are referred to shoreside medical facilities. The ship’s Medical Center cannot supply or refill prescriptions.

We strongly encourage guests to carry a copy of their medical records (e.g., a list of medical conditions, allergies, names, and medication dosages as well as the name and contact information of their physician).

For additional information regarding medical care on board, please click here.

Carnival can provide guests with meals suited to the following special dietary needs: vegetarian, low-cholesterol, low-fat, low-carbohydrates, low-sugar, and gluten free. Carnival chefs will make every effort to fulfill your requests, and will gladly prepare freshly-made options that meet your dietary needs. Once on board, we ask you speak with the headwaiter or dining room host in advance, so they can assist in planning your daily meals in the dining room. This will allow them the necessary time to prepare foods, as requested, in a timely manner.

Gluten-free pizza dough, pasta, bread for deli sandwiches, and hamburgers buns, as well as cake are available upon request. Plus, all frozen desserts and yogurt are gluten-free. All items are freshly prepared and may take a little longer than regular menu items. Gluten-free beer, Estrella Daura, is available for your enjoyment.

Carnival can also provide prepackaged kosher meals. If you’re requesting kosher meals, you must let us know two weeks advance of your cruise.

Guests who require a specific dining time can make arrangements once on board the ship. Guests will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis.

Food Allergies:
We ask that you please inform us of any food allergies and special preparation you may require to accommodate your allergy. Please discuss this with the dining staff on the first evening of your cruise. Although there are a number of options at the various restaurants on board, special dietary and food requests can be accommodated in the main dining rooms only.

Other Dietary Needs:
Although there are not specialized dietitians on board, Carnival can offer assistance with simple requests such as the method of preparation of menu items. Diet requirements need to be arranged with the head waiter on the first night of the cruise. If dining in the Lido Restaurant, the guest should discuss requirements with senior dining staff.

The only dogs Carnival permits aboard our ships are working service dogs, which are legally defined and individually trained to meet disability-related needs by performing tasks like guiding a blind person, alerting a deaf person, pulling wheelchairs, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, or performing other special tasks. Working service dogs are not pets.

Pets, or service dogs in training, are not allowed aboard. Emotional support dogs, which are not recognized by the Department of Justice, are also not permitted on Carnival ships.
